Hi, Sandy,
Sounds like you are settling in just fine. Learning to go with the flow. I'm so glad you are able to have so much interaction with the local people, even if it is mostly about language. Hopefully as they get to know you better and trust that you are really interested in their personal lives, they will open up more. It looks like you are in for a very rich experience.
